True Grit returns to Linga Longa Estate on the Blackwood River in Western Australia's south-west, near Southampton and Balingup, roughly three hours south of Perth. It is the most scenic stop on the calendar and the most rugged: river country, karri forest and steep ground, with the full obstacle set built into it.
Two distances run across both Saturday and Sunday: 5 km (12+) and 10 km (16+). The timed 10 km Elite wave runs Saturday only at 8:30am; general 10 km waves go from 8:35am until 11:00am Saturday and 10:30am Sunday, with 5 km waves throughout the day.
The distance from Perth makes this a stay-over. On-site camping (assigned caravan/premium and open general spots) can be added at registration, with toilets and hot showers, and Linga Longa also runs glamping tents. Volunteers camp free.
